Brunswick St

Rosslynd Piggott

Mirror mirror no 1

2009-2010

Oil & palladium leaf on linen,
hand slumped,
sandblasted and mirrored glass by David Herbert
2 panels, each 100 x 75 x 2cm

I had the pleasure of seeing a lecture by Rosslynd Piggott yesterday. It has been a while since I've been enthralled and inspired by a lecture at uni. She had me hooked. Not only were her works, subtle and demure they had such a quiet strength about them. Her collaborative works with glass blowers were among my favourites...where she captures breath. The art is so visually satisfying as well as conceptually articulate. I was so compelled I went and hunted the gallery with her work displayed in brunswick st, (opposite the jasmine covered cafe, that sells particularly good, gluten free pumpkin pizza's)

The afternoon football was cancelled

We happened upon this beautiful park, that was minutes from my house.
I had never seen it before. It was along this hidden path full of tall green lamp posts.
The further in we went the more beautiful and larger it became, until in the middle we found a giant pond, hedged with flowers and reeds. A japanese bridge surrounded in lilies, everything was illuminated on the saturday we thought we never had.

Lately...

I apologize for my neglection to little mountain whisperings, I have been very busy, uni has just been so hectic for me this semester, ad I'm really struggling to stay focused. Fingers crossed I hold out till December. Here's some of what I've been up to along my artistic journey at Monash so far.
